Membership has its Privileges

You may be asking yourself, "why join the League?" Good question. As the umbrella organization of all neighborhood associations, we represent a united front within the civic structure. Our members stay abreast of the latest issues and happenings within the city that affect our neighborhoods.

In addition, the FWLNA is a constant source for civic members including the mayor and city council for soliciting opinions and gathering the neighborhoods opinions on a quick and timely basis.  Through years of building strong relationships and supporting those who serve our city, we have established the FWLNA as one of the most respected and trusted associations in Fort Worth.

2008 President's Summit Report

In mid-April, the Fort Worth League of Neighborhoods hosted its first ever Presidents Summit at the Botanic Garden Center.  All Fort Worth neighborhood association presidents were invited to bring the top issues facing their neighborhoods and join their fellow association presidents in identifying key issues facing the various sectors of the City and the entire City.  Ninety-five neighborhoods responded to the invitation and participated in the event.

Neighborhood association representatives were divided by City Council districts and participated in a nominal group process to identify top issues facing neighborhoods.  Thus, the responses are not just anecdotal.  They are weighted according to the priority given to them by each neighborhood.  Listed below are the top issues in each sector and the top issues facing the City as identified by Fort Worth neighborhoods.

The Fort Worth League of Neighborhoods is using the list of top issues as a blueprint to create programs of interest for neighborhood representatives and advocacy based on issues of highest concern.  For instance, FWLNA has already produced programs on gas well drilling (and will soon produce more public information meetings on the topic) and lobbied the Fort Worth City Council for the passage of transportation impact fees.  The League also hopes to hold the Presidents Summit on a regular basis to stay current on what neighborhoods consider their top issues.
