Gas Well Drilling Applications Reports
Week of August 10, 2008
Week of June 27 - July 14, 2008
This data comes from the Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality (TCEQ) The data is prepared for the
spreadsheet by Jerry Lobdill, Linda Yarbrough, and James Lawrence--
all volunteers.
The TCEQ application is the first wicket a planned drilling pad or
well must negotiate in its permit process, and thus represents the
earliest notice that we can provide you for what may be coming to
your neighborhood. Following this wicket, the applicant will file
for a State permit to drill with the Texas Railroad Commission. Then
they will apply for a Fort Worth City permit for sites inside the
city limits.
You may begin to get communications from landmen before any of these
applications have been filed. If so, they are hoping you will not
care where the drilling site will be when you sign your lease. DON'T
EVER SIGN unless your neighborhood has negotiated a lease if you
want to get favorable terms and the maximum degree of safety.
To use the attached spreadsheet, look at the MAPSCO square column.
See if your home is in one of these squares. If so, call your
neighborhood association officers immediately. Click on the URL to
the right of the MAPSCO square of interest. It will take you to a
map showing where the site is located.
Note especially entries with the comment "Expedite". This means they
are in a hurry. In the PAD column if you see CP, that means the
well is for cathodic protection and applies to an existing site, not
a new one. If the PAD column has a Y in it it means this is a new
drilling pad, on which there may eventually be 6-8 wells drilled.
