One Third of Public High School Students will not Graduate.

Half of African American and Nearly Half of Hispanic Public High School Students Will Not Graduate.

Half of Public High School Students are not prepared for College or Jobs.

The Fort Worth League of Neighborhoods is holding a special event January 20th, 2007. Titled, Stand Up for Education, this event features a forum of expert speakers who can help illuminate this alarming trend in our city and offer some possible solutions.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

 SESSION 1   9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

  • Legal Foundation of Mandatory Community Associations
  • Accessing City Services
  • Stand Up for Education: High School Redesign - Learn about the most progressive idea being discussed on this issue-high school redesign. The Texas High School Project will share their insights into the impact school design can have on dropout rates.

SESSION 2  10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

·        Building Relationships

·         The Dropout Dilemma: A Panel Discussion - A panel of education leaders from multiple school districts will discuss topics ranging from: What are the key drivers of the dropout issue? What is the impact of dropouts on the city? And much more…
