Urban Drilling Resources
At 2008’s President’s Summit sponsored by the League for presidents of neighborhood associations around the City, representatives for 95 neighborhoods identified issues related to urban gas drilling as one of the top 3 issues facing their neighborhoods.
Since at least 2005, the League of Neighborhoods has been monitoring gas drilling issues in the Barnett Shale as they affect residents of Fort Worth neighborhoods. The League provided numerous public information meetings on gas leasing and neighborhood organizing to get the best deal and a 2008 series of public information meetings on gas drilling and eminent domain, water quality issues and gas drilling, environmental issues and drilling, and others. The League monitored the City of Fort Worth’s 2008 revisions to its gas drilling ordinance, was consulted by the City on the proposed Air Quality Study, monitored and videotaped the meetings of the Fort Worth Air Quality Study Committee, and received a major federal grant to produce a comprehensive study of gas pipelines in Fort Worth (see the Pipelines page).
See the links posted for just a few of the many advocacy positions the League has adopted regarding gas drilling in Fort Worth.
